Things are getting pretty!

Happy Sunday!

How quickly has this week flown by?! I hope you've all had a good week.

I started the week off with a visit to a garden centre... we only went to browse for ideas for my friend's garden... so naturally I had to get something pretty for mine haha!
These have brightened my garden up a little; it's been so dismal otherwise. Aren't they pretty?

I carried on the theme of pretty things all week, and when Saturday came, a full day of crafting!

This weekend, we used Timeless Tulips, Grace's Garden, and we each chose a stamp set to try decorating a plate! (I do like to add a little something different now and again!)

First up, we stamped our designs on our plain ceramic plates using Stazon.

Whilst the plates were baking and cooling, we made 2 cards using Timeless Tulips. Here are a few of them, what do you think?

After some lunch, we coloured our plates using Blends and then whilst they were baking for the 2nd time, we got to play with Grace's Garden stamps and dies. I loved playing with this set. The first card was a little more involved, making several layers with apertures and lots of layers of die cut flowers.
The 2nd involved a bit of masking and some watercolouring!
How pretty are these?!

By the time we had made these beautiful cards, the plates were baked and cooled and looking good!

Aren't they stunning?! I think I will have to do more ceramic stamping in the future, it was very well received!

Anyhow, that's it for me this week. If you're interested in making any of the above, get in touch for future workshops, or treat yourself to the stamp sets, there is a link on the left to my shop.

Have a wonderful week,

Sunday 16 February 2020

With weather is like this, there's only one thing to do...

Hello! Happy Sunday :)

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend, and for those of you who celebrate it, a lovely Valentine's day!

I used to really like the day after Valentine's due to all the reduced chocolates and flowers.. but I didn't treat myself this weekend! Truth be told, even reduced chocolate wasn't enough to make me brave Storm Dennis!!

Instead, this weekend I have been doing a lot of crafting! (No change there!)

I have 2 upcoming workshops and so a lot of prep to do and there were a few things I wanted to practice with too!

First up, I made up a couple of cards using the Timeless Tulips stamp set. With Spring getting ever nearer I wanted to celebrate that my Tulips have started to grow in the garden! No flowers just yet though... What do you think?

Along with the Timeless Tulips, I used the Very Versailles stamp to get the written background on the birthday card. The for the Easter Card I used the Pinewood Planks embossing folder to add a little detail behind the flowers... pretty huh?!

Next, I finally got round to playing with Grace's Garden! I have been wanting to try these stamps and dies for a while now, and oh I am so pleased with the results!
I can only show one of the cards as I have used this set to make a card for someone else and I don't want to spoil the surprise!
Here's my little pretty, using the masking technique to add depth. I used watercolours for a change and love the effect it has given, don't you?

Finally, I had a practice stamping on ceramics!
I had a couple of plain white mugs and plates to practice on.
First, I cleaned them with vodka. Then I got the Stazon ink and had a play! It is quite difficult to stamp on mugs due to them being round. The plates were a lot easier. There is definitely a knack to this, I'm sure after lots of practice I will be a master!!
Here are a couple of my attempts...

I absolutely adore these! I'll be picking up some more crockery tomorrow to try again in different colours. How wonderful would it be to have a dinner set that has been decorated by you?!

Once I had stamped the images, (After a few attempts and cleaning off several times!) I baked them. Then I coloured using the Blends; I chose Lovely Lipstick light and dark for these. I really want to do a set in a nice bright blue too!

What stamp set would you use to decorate a plate and mug?

That's it for me today, I will now be poring through images of cards and projects on the internet to plan what to make next!

Have a wonderful week everyone.

Silhouettes and Funky Backgrounds

Happy Sunday everyone!

I hope you're all wrapped up warm and safe out of Storm Ciara's way! She's a bit crazy this one huh! We seem to have acquired someone's guttering!

The good news is, that with weather like this, there is a great excuse to do more crafting!

Yesterday I held a Silhouettes and Funky Backgrounds class. As usual we had a lot of fun!
First, we created our backgrounds, using the sponge brayers and post it notes.
We stamped our images and embossed the words... I loved seeing the creativity flow from the ladies, each adding a bit of something different. Embossed clouds, splashed water, and the masking technique was used to add a few finishing touches.
Here's some photos of what was created!

Aren't they gorgeous! Perfect for any occasion.

The stamp sets we used were Enjoy Life, Above The Clouds and Silhouette Scenes. The possibilities are endless with these sets, and they all work so well together, don't you think!

I have also been working on putting together a special freebie (From me, not Stampin' Up!). If you order the Painted Poppies stamp set before the end of February, you will get a little freebie from me as a thank you! This will be a little card making kit to use alongside the stamp set. (There is limited stock of these sets, however if I run out I will make sure you still get something pretty!)

Anyhow, that's it for now. My next class is on the 22nd of Feb and there is only one space remaining. This will be for a full day of crafting fun! If you'd like to know more about that or anything else, just pop me an email - dawn@craftingonthegreen.co.uk.

Have a great week,

Seeing Silhouettes

Whenever I hear the word Silhouette, I start singing that fabulous song by Queen in my head! (You know... I see a little Silhouette of a man...). Tell me I'm not alone on that one!

I've been singing that song quite a lot lately as I've been preparing for next weekend's group aptly named 'I see a little Silhouette'.

I have been playing with the Enjoy Life and Silhouette Scenes stamp sets, along with creating some backgrounds using the sponge brayer, finger daubers and aqua pens. Such messy fun!

I was also armed with the heat embossing tool and my VersaMark, it really does make such a difference sometimes!

Here's a few sneak peeks of what I have come up with so far;

I even added some Shrinky Dinks... a cat and a butterfly. Stampin' Up! punches work so well with Shrinky Dinks! Just punch them out and use the heat tool to shrink... voila!

There's lots going on in February, after this Silhouette group, I am running my first ever full day of crafting, and finally this month is a decorated notebook group. I can't wait to share all the photos with you of these groups!

It's just a quick blog this evening, there's been a bit going on lately which has put me back a day and now I think I am in need of a very early night!

I hope you all have a wonderful week, I will be better this Sunday coming!!
